From the account of Katniss Everdeen, no tribute could compare to the brutish power and strength of Cato, a boy from District 2 who was so confident in his abilities to win that he willingly signed up for the Seventy-fourth Hunger Games. Nothing seemed to stand in his way. He was power. He was strength. And in his mind, the Games were already won. Katniss dismissed him as a bloodthirsty killer, typical of a Career Tribute, but there was much more to his story than a mindless desire to kill.

When Katniss scores an eleven from the gamemakers, everyone wants her to join them. But she has had her eye on one boy since the beginning. Cato. She has convinced herself that she doesn't have feelings for him. She only wants to be with him so she can win the games and come back home to Prim. But when Cato confesses his love to her how will she react? Will she admit how she feels? ** "We have to kill him." Cato whispers, looking from me to the boy sleeping on the ground. "Cato," I said, nervously. "I can't kill him." "Then I'll do it..." He said, wiping the blade of his sword on the hem of his shirt. My mind replayed that night Peeta saved me. The day my family nearly died of starvation. "Cato... No." I attempted to pull the sword away from him. He looked at me, his jaw hardened. "Why not?" He hissed through gritted teeth. "Because... I want to do it." I stated. "But not right now." "When?" He laughed. "Soon." The corners of his mouth pulled up, pleased with my response. "When the time is right I'll kill Peeta." **
