The door to the room opened. I stopped, and peered at My King with all of the hope I had left. He shook his head, looking devastated. "Martyn, we're going to war." - A 3rd life oneshot and songfic set in a medieval AU that was cooked up in less than a week. Inspired by the song "The Garden" by The Crane Wives. Yes, I heard the lyric "My stone, my shield, my steady hand," and then just . . . wrote this. - TWs: . War . Death . Blood . Are crows considered a trigger warning if they're doing disturbing things? . Some other things I can't say because I don't want to spoil this, but could make some people uncomfortable and/or trigger them Please be careful while reading, and don't feel forced to read the entire thing or any of it at all if it makes you uncomfortable. It's okay, this fic isn't for everyone :D - Installation 2 of The Foxlore Collection. This fic can be read on its own.

Grian wasn't supposed to still be in the game. It had ended. It was over. He was sick of the dry heat during the day and the numbing cold at night. He wanted to go home. They wouldn't let him go home. Grian presumed it was a punishment. He'd thought that the game would be enough for Them to finally leave him alone, but he was wrong. They'd never be satisfied, he was realizing. He was The One Who Got Away, and now They'd never allow him to escape the scope of Their gaze again. --- Basically, the Watchers trap Grian in 3rd Life after it ends. This is an account of the last days he spends in the game before he breaks free. Installation 4 of The Foxlore Collection. This fic can be read on its own.

Etho is a survivor. It's something we all know. He lives for himself and no one else. I thought I could prove it wrong. I thought he loved me and he'd do anything for me. I thought he could make a exception from his survivability rules for me. It turns out he couldn't, and now here I am, pretending I don't care that he won't give me a life even though he has some to spare. Instead, he split our base with fences and forbid me from crossing to his side. It isn't fair. Etho takes but doesn't give. He says he cares about me, but then he backs away when helping me risks his own safety. Maybe I should've killed him when I was under the Curse instead of sparing him. Maybe then I wouldn't be stuck as a Red, scorned and looked down apon by everyone. Maybe I shouldn't have fallen in love with him in the first place. ::..:..:: In other words, all Bdubs wants is a life from Etho but Etho has a habit of keeping them to himself. (aka I saw Etho didn't give a life to anyone during Last Life (ignoring You Bet Your Life) and went 'hmm I can do something with this') Installation 5 of the Foxlore Collection. This fic can be read on its own, but I'd recommend reading the sequel, Cold, Sleepless Nights, afterwards :D

Ever since Last Life, Bdubs had seemed to be avoiding Etho. Before the game, they'd tried to hang out weekly, but now they'd barely spoken, let alone hung out. It hurt a lot, more than Etho ever thought heartbreak (or whatever this was) would, so he'd hid out in the wilderness of the Hermitcraft server for a while. When the moon bugged and they moved servers, Etho considered speaking to Bdubs about everything, but he'd chickened out and went back into hiding, this time on the new world. After that, Etho'd only seen Bdubs on run-ins; one time, Etho had been purchasing wood from GIGA Logs at the same time as Bdubs; another time, Bdubs had been searching for horses and came across Etho trying to find cows for food after a long mining session. Even on these occasions, though, Bdubs left as quickly as possible. Etho didn't understand it. .o.o. In other words, Bdubs is ignoring Etho, Etho doesn't know what he's done wrong, and both of them have made some mistakes. Installation 6 of the Foxlore Collection. You can read this fic on its own if you really want to, but it'll make a lot more sense if you read the prequel, Down The River, first.

The story of a relationship, from beginning to end (and a little beyond). --- The day Grian came back home, one associate degree richer, it was raining. It was also raining a few weeks later on the day that Grian and Scar moved into their new apartment in the big city an hour away. Both days were tearful and celebratory, with plenty of hugs and macadamia nut cookies to go around. In a cruel twist of fate, it just so happened it was also raining on the day Grian moved out. --- Installation 9 of The Foxlore Collection This fic can be read on its own.

Now, Jimmy looks close to tears, and Tango feels just a little bad about it (he feels awful). "I need you." Tango clenches his jaw. He's already been so mean to Jimmy, too mean, and every single awful, soul-shriveling word that comes out of his mouth hurts him just as much as it hurts Jimmy, but . . . "And I don't need you." --- Or, there's been a massive misunderstanding, Tango is brutal and unforgiving, and Jimmy just wants to clear everything up.
