Jenny Herrington's home isn't what she wished for. It never really has been. Not even before her mom walked out. Her dad is a deadbeat drunk that beats her now that her mom is out of the picture. He relies on Jenny to bring home money at the expense of dropping out of school. Little does he know that she's now a senior and is graduating the week of her 18th birthday. There's one thing Jenny wants out of her life now: an escape. She wants to move out, leave her dad and her job at Milton Foods behind, and start over again somewhere in the Rockies. Preferably somewhere that's not a grocery store. There's just one problem, though: a way to get there. She can't drive and it's not like she has a car, anyway. As she's getting ready to go, her boss gets injured, and a whole new headache is added to the equation: Brayden Milton. He soon becomes the bane of Jenny's existence. The only way she knows to make it through this new storm that his presence brings is thinking about a fast car to anywhere other than Rapid Falls.

ONC 2024 Participant --- Brayden has been a lot of things: salutatorian, undergrad, party boy, boyfriend, ex, and so on. There's one thing, though, that he's always wanted to be that seems out of reach: the golden boy. The one the whole family recognizes as the heir of the grocery store and worthy of taking over the chain. Of course, that was before he met her. That girl that never seemed truly happy. He suddenly finds himself less interested in the title of Golden Boy and longing for the title of hers.
