If you were to search through the shelves holding each recording of The Hunger Games, you would find the 39th missing. You might be puzzled and search for it- but I guarantee you won't find it, all the recordings have been burned, it's been long wiped from the memories of all- all except those who were reaped that fateful year....

I thought about the odds now. Maybe they weren't so great, but after all I had been through, I knew something had to be in my favor. Noah Albedo was perfectly fine with her life, avoiding the people she didn't like, spending time with the people she did. But her entire future is derailed when her name is called at the Reaping Ceremony. Now she'll have to face an unforgiving arena, a sadistic district partner, twenty-two other teenagers and cameras surrounding her at all times as she enters the 25th Hunger Games. Oh the odds. When our eyes met, the memories all came rushing back. From throwing her the bread to saying goodbye at the Lightening Tree to the red plaid dress on the first day of Kindergarten. I remembered it all so much clearer, the shiny memories seemed to fade to so much dimmer terrors. But she's nearly dead. How can I convince her to go on, that life is still worth living.
