Yoon Jeonghan is "The Nation's Angel," a superstar whose golden voice and charming smile hide a soul weary of the spotlight's lonely glare. Choi Seungcheol is "The Wolf," a feared mafia boss who rules the underworld with an iron will, his heart as cold as the steel he carries. Their worlds collide when Jeonghan's company, drowning in secret debts, fails to pay the immense sum it owes to Seungcheol's syndicate. Seeing an opportunity, Seungcheol doesn't just demand money; he takes possession. His price is Yoon Jeonghan himself. Kidnapped from his green room and thrust into a gilded cage, Jeonghan responds the only way he knows how: with defiant fury. He insults his captor, challenges his authority, and vows not to give him a moment of peace. To Seungcheol, the singer is just an asset, a pawn. An infuriatingly beautiful, sharp-tongued pawn who refuses to be intimidated. But hatred is a cold bedfellow, and proximity breeds a dangerous understanding. Behind the barbs and the power plays, a twisted bond begins to form. Jeonghan sees cracks in the monster's armor-a hidden kindness for the forgotten, a soul as lonely as his own. Seungcheol finds himself drawn to the fire in Jeonghan's eyes, a flame that doesn't flicker even in the face of death.

"Just so you know," Seungcheol grunts, his voice laced with frustration, "I'm only putting up with you because of my mother. Nothing else." He forcefully pushes down on the accelerator, the car lurching forward. Jeonghan, ever the tease, smirks and playfully buckles his seatbelt. "Aw, sucks," he drawls, his tone dripping with faux disappointment. "I thought we would make such a cute couple, Cheollie." The engine roars to life as the car starts moving. --- Seungcheol had finally managed to find someone willing to play the role of his fake husband for the family gathering, a desperate attempt to save himself from the constant nagging of his family members who were determined to see him married. But the truth was, Seungcheol couldn't stand Jeonghan.

"Hello. I'm Seungcheol Choi... Chaerin's boyfriend." The chopsticks slipped from Jeonghan's fingers, clattering against the plate. The chair next to him scraped the floor, and suddenly a warm body settled into it. His fist clenched against his thigh as he chewed on tteokbokki a little too fast, trying not to look. He had expected a lot when he came home for summer: The dog giving birth again. The backyard swing finally fixed. Long, slow afternoons that smelled of sun and dust. But not this. Not his sister introducing her boyfriend to their parents like it was normal. Not the way Seungcheol's smile lingered a little too long, deliberate and dangerous. He swallowed. Summer was supposed to be simple. Somehow, this wasn't.

Yet here I stand, wrapped in silk I didn't pick, under chandeliers brighter than my will to live, listening to vows that feel more like contracts signed in blood. When gamer Choi Seungcheol moved into his new apartment, he didn't think much about its history. Sure, it used to belong to Yoon Jeonghan, the cold, beautiful, heartless, famous artist who had "tragically died" in a car crash a month ago. The news had been everywhere, and Seungcheol remembered thinking, damn, even his funeral looked expensive. Until one rainy night at 3 a.m., someone started knocking. Seungcheol, half-asleep and armed with the nearest frying pan, opened the door and froze. Standing there was Jeonghan himself. "AAHHHHHHH YOU'RE SUPPOSED TO BE DEAD! I SAW YOUR FUNERAL ON TV!" Seungcheol screamed. Jeonghan crossed his arms. "Do I look dead to you?" Well... he did look pale and a little ghostly, though Seungcheol would admit, only in the "too pretty to be real" way. And the more he stared, the more Seungcheol realized the terrifying truth: Jeonghan might actually be a ghost.
