As the city murder rate soars, Adele finds herself tangled in a web of magic that weaves back to her own ancestors. Caught in a hurricane of myths and monsters, who can she trust when everyone has a secret and keeping them can mean life or death? Unless . . . you're immortal.

Keira. An invisible, fragile, kind hearted and compassionate girl is forced to become a guardian; a soldier who protects and fights for her region no matter what it costs. Ferliobogs; are the creatures she's supposedly fighting against. They are said to be dangerous, man-slaughtering creatures that must be controlled and killed whenever possible; used for entertainment and training purposes, the creatures lash out and live up to what the humans say they are. When Keira is sent to a training academy away from her home and family, things begin to happen and a long kept secret is revealed. She learns that she is one of the few that feel the ferliobog species' pain, one of the few that can communicate and hopefully save a misunderstood species. A gentle creature, that means no harm and only retaliates to protect itself, turns her world upside down and sets her on a journey of self discovery and character testing. An encounter with a special type of people sparks a determination that cannot be swayed, and from then on she vows to protect and to help the creatures, before things get out of hand. Will she be too late to save both humans and ferliobogs? Or will one species die out at the expense of the other?

While on his computer, Victor Hastings admires the provocative pictures of girls he's dating. Meanwhile, these girls are posting more and more on Facebook and all the social sites. Now, all the young men in his cramped fraternity are competing for the attention of these online, amateur pinups. And the institution of the college fraternity itself is beginning to be threatened by this emerging, online phenomenon that, in the fall of 2007, has yet to be identified as "Social Media." Three women will make an impact on Victor. Erin Masters is an alluring yet naïve co-ed. Despite outward modesty, she has no reservations about letting friends plaster her provocative images across various social websites. Emily Green-Portsmith comes from wealth and is comparatively more aware of her effect on young men, both on and offline. Technological reliance, however, does not sit well with the house mother of these fraternity boys. She is affectionately known as Ma Red. This feisty, former Vietnam correspondent from the old-school of etiquette and discipline is prepared to make a fight for her traditional values. And throughout these technological and romantic discoveries, Victor wonders: What kind of love is this? ... the wired kind. He explores the pharmaceutical, social and sexual habits of the digital age. Pills are popped, rebellions spark - a young man matures against a set of difficulties unknown to generations past. Can Victor find meaning in the close sensations of a woman from the real world?

Keely Staub has grown up. At least that's what she thinks has happened. No longer a naive eighteen year old being introduced to a music industry that's equal parts grandeur and grime, she might even be considered a veteran. At just twenty six, she's lived almost too much of a life in the intervening years since she first came to New York. A great love and a great band, not to mention more than a few unsavoury addictions picked up along the way in the time honoured traditions of the rock stars before her. And she gave it all up - except the rock star part, of course. That was a different Keely Staub, a more innocent and wild one all at the same time. She's determined that person and all the things that came with her will stay in the past, and has a very clear path laid in front of her. A measured, smart, hopefully one day respected, path. The problem is the past refuses to remain the past.
