Joseta Pro'oz is known to make headlines whether she means to or not. Though, it is not the best habit to be in when her mother is a political representative on Corsuth. When a potential alliance with a distant planet arises, Joseta is given a chance to redeem herself from her previous mistakes by leading the negotiations with her brother. But on her way to the meeting, there is an attempt on her life, keeping her surface-bound on a backwater planet a few decades behind the times. But his routine is demolished whenever a senator's daughter is thrust into his schedule and it is now his duty to discover who made the attempt on her life, even if he is too busy to do so.

When the whole fleet of Scavenger ships is swept away in a vortex to an unknown area of space, Desree and her crew are separated, leaving her to team up with an annoying, handsome, and possibly criminal alien, Jaze Orekna, to find her friends and find a way home. Everything Dr. Rowan Elliot believed slipped through her fingertips whenever the Halcyon and other Scavenger ships got sucked into a wormhole, sending them to a whole new galaxy. Stranded on a deadly alien moon, Dr. Rowan and the crew of the Halcyon must find a way back to their captain and ship and figure out how to grasp the reality that aliens are real and that they may never get back home.
