"Didn't you say you wanted me to be happy regardless?" I asked him with wide eyes. "Even it it's not with you?" He sighed and rubbed over his face, something he often did when he was irritated. "Nadia I just can't and won't accept that" He shook his head. "He's what makes me happy Xabrien." "I can't believe you leaving me alone for a white boy." 1996 just before the clock struck twelve that's when I officially met Rakim. And we entered the new year together. 1997 was a special year, for both me and Rakim. Everybody knew Rocky, but never bothered to know Rakim. 1997 was a year of heartbreak and hardships. I told my deepest secrets and my biggest fears. So he did the same. 1997 was the year of big mistakes, but I can never make myself regret them. That's only cause I spent 365 days with him. 1997 was the year I gave my heart and my soul to Rakim. And I knew he cherished every moment of it. Still, somewhere in the darkness something came to the light. 1997 was the year I let go of him and entered 1998 with new beginnings and without Rakim.

if you could define life by color, life before Him was kinda pale. the days were pretty and pink, but there was no warmth to give it vibrancy or nothing. every day was basically the same and exhaustingly boring. His arrival brought not only new colors and vibrancy, but meaning to the ones i'd already known. i loved it, the months where things were good between us felt like he showed me a new way of life that was totally different from everything. he left, snatching the color back from me. i don't know how i'll find anything like that ever again, so i suppose i'll try suppressing the memories. even if it means i fade to gray.

Life is such a thrill when you don't know what's next. That's exactly what Florence Morrison's life was like: she never knew what would come next. Would her parents send her away to boarding school? Would her friends' crazy plan work? But most of all, what would happen if it did? She was the type who feared the outcome of everything, so she avoided these questions. But sooner or later, she had to face up to her life, and as moments passed by, there was no escape. No escape from her enemies, herself, the new boy in her life (who she doesn't know if he's her enemy or her friend), or her life. The only escape is death, which is bound to happen soon in this dog-eat-dog world.

Tremaine has lived in Harlem for her entire life. She's just another young, misbehaving black girl from a poor family. Even though she misbehaves, she's still innocent. But there's a boy on her block by the name of Rakim who can change her forever. Is there more to Rakim than Tremaine thinks? Is he more than just a local rapping dropout? For all she knows, he can be anybody. A killer, or a millionaire. But whatever she does, Tremaine can't fall for him. That would be a love crime. All rights reserved.
