The Language of War is a historical fiction novel that explores forbidden love during WWII in the 1940s. It follows the unlikely relationship between Neven, a stern 19-year-old Russian soldier, and Ciro, a stubborn 18-year-old Italian boy suddenly drafted into the war.
Set in Milan, Italy, the story begins when Ciro, overwhelmed by news of his conscription, flees home in a panic. He crashes his bike on a beach, struggling to come to terms with the life that awaits him-just as disaster strikes.
There, Ciro witnesses Russian soldiers preparing to bomb the city of Milan. And among them is Neven.
As tensions mount and the world around them burns, the line between enemy and ally blurs. What begins as fear and defiance becomes something far more dangerous: love.
