It's hard, but it's true." // Sometimes you can't let go of what's making you sad, because it was the only thing that made you happy. Akutagawa was known for giving surprisingly good advice for someone who seems to be a lost man for the most part. Atsushi has always hated this about him because he was always right. So when the roles were reversed, Akutagawa didn't know what to make of it. A connection was established - a foundation of trust. I mean, sure, they still tried to kill each other on surface level, but they found peace in the violence. It was their constant when all else around them crumbled. And so, many sacrifices for one another later, Dazai makes a suggestion that shakes the both of them right to the core. Maybe they were in *love*. Maybe that's why they were never willing to kill each other - why they were always convinced they had to hold back. But, they were both stubborn brats and hung up on the fact that they were supposed to be bitter enemies. The sacrifices don't lie, though. No one risks their life that much for their enemy.
