After being kicked out of his own orphanage, Atsushi finds himself out on the streets of Yokohama city. Out of sheer hunger Atsushi steals a pastry from a little girl with golden locks and a red dress. He does not get very far, as who seems to be her guardian, catches Atsushi. The man realises there may be something special about Atsushi and offers him a place to eat and sleep. However, on one condition, he starts working for the man. Reluctantly Atsushi agrees, and finds himself now working for the Port Mafia. Atsushi meets Chuuya for the first time, and is kind of concerned of what his motives for wanting to stay with him are. Either way, he doesn't want to get killed by the Mafia, so he goes along with it. Atsushi ends up getting blackout drunk, and Chuuya is bothered to take care of him until Dazai comes. Dazai has a strange way to exit the building and rescue the were-tiger, but it all worked out in the end.
