Just after the first book, the oldest son, Robb Stark, has promised to take one of Lord Frey's daughters or granddaughters as a wife in order for passage through the Twins. Robb has been given Brooke Frey, a great granddaughter to the Lord of the towers. With no known words of their own, the Frey's are known for the excess of kin and protecting their own in battle. Brooke was chosen to wed Robb- the now Lord of Winterfell. She is accepted by all and praised for her beauty and quiet. "They call her Brooke because she is small and quiet like that which runs through the wood- and just as beautiful." They are all right, only her love speaks louder than any voice. Being sent to live at WInterfell before her marriage, she becomes known for her strength by all- it is what they all later think upon hearing her name.
