Wilbur Soot is a Siren who loves screwing with the captain-of-a-pirate-ship's son, Tommy. Nobody believes Tommy when he talks about Wilbur. It stays like this. The teasing, the toying, that is, until a storm hits, and Tommy falls overboard. Wilbur loves to mess with the boy, but now is no time for jokes. This is life or death for this boy. Tommy can somewhat remember a pair of hands grabbing him, and him grabbing a piece of wood to float on. Wilbur pushes the boy back to the ship where his brother and his two friends are there to pull him back aboard. Once Tommy can think, he knows that it only could've been the Siren that had saved him. Tommy is skeptical about these "beasts" that the kingdom is oh-so frightened about, so he sets out during the night, full of curiosity, to see if they're real, or just a myth. But you know what they say. "Curiosity killed the cat." Or in this case, "Curiosity killed the kid." But does he die? Maybe not. Are some of those "wicked beasts" actually nice if they're even real?
