Dr. Autumn Hall loved working at Pittsburgh Trauma Medical Hospital (PTMC) in the emergency room. After busting her ass to get through undergrad and med school early, Autumn found herself becoming a night shift attending in "The Pitt" just before her 30th birthday. Working alongside her close "friend" (maybe frenemy is a better word?) and colleague Dr. Jack Abbot, Autumn has cemented herself as a strong doctor and friend. What happens when a mass casualty event changes everything? Inspired by the lyrics "He looks like he works with his hands, and smells like Marlboro Reds" from the song "Crush" by Ethel Cain Mature themes, read at your own risk ;) Cross-posted to AO3

It starts with silence. Then praise. Then a look no one else gets. But as shift after shift pulls them closer, the lines blur between protection and possession, control and care. He doesn't touch her-until she touches him. And when the tension finally snaps, the fallout is inevitable. He warned her once: "If I cross that line, I won't go back." She whispered back: "Then don't

Through shared days and long nights, until being together felt less like a choice and more like a constant. Jack stayed through the pressure and change. Amelia stayed with the same steady devotion, loving him with patience rather than spectacle. They chose each other quietly and without ceremony, endured separation and return, and learned one another again when life reshaped them. What binds them is not a single moment, but a lasting, deliberate love. She loves him without hesitation, without condition. Dr. Emilia Reyes is the sweet one in Pediatric Emergency, the doctor who crouches to eye level, who hands out stickers after sutures, who lowers her voice when the monitors start screaming and the world feels too big for the child in the bed. People underestimate her because of that. They see kindness and mistake it for weakness. They see patience and assume she will yield. Dr. Jack Abbot doesn't. An Emergency Medicine attending known for brutal competence and razor-sharp restraint, Abbot thrives in chaos. He does not soften the truth. He does not dilute hard decisions. And he does not step back when the room gets loud. When disaster forces him into her department, their collision is not subtle. He questions her restraint. She questions his ruthlessness. He pushes. She pushes back harder. Because beneath the calm pediatrician is steel, controlled and deliberate and more than capable of meeting him blow for blow. Abbot is simply the first man reckless enough to test it. In a hospital where resources run thin and not every life makes it home, Emilia has mastered composure. She has learned how to carry grief quietly, how to hold steady when everything fractures. What she has never learned is how to stand unmoved when someone sees straight through her. In an Emergency Department built on control, the most dangerous thing is not chaos. It is the moment you stop pretending you are immune to it. And some fires do not ask permission before they burn.

It had been two years since you and Jack had gotten engaged, you had taken a position as Chief Resident and everything had fallen into place. Now, you had not only bought a house but were also planning a wedding. Things had settled - calm, real, peaceful. But can this really last, the peace, the calm? Can you and Jack hold through anything? This will continue to expand on the power dynamic relationship. There will be discussions around baby loss, infertility, family trauma, PTSD, mental health, eating disorders and OCD. But it will be softer than the first book - less fast paced trauma and fighting for every element of their relationship but more settling into the life they've built together and that transition from the intense passion to something long lasting and solid, which in itself comes with new challenges, reality (honestly I think I've been listening to too much Noah Kahan which has influenced the soft edges, reflective tone of this!). This is a continuation book from 'I've Been Thinking Lately, Everybody's Crazy'. I had some amazing feedback and comments from you guys so thank you very much. It spurred me on to keep writing!

β‹†ο½‘Β°βœ©Β°ο½‘β‹† One year ago, Sophia and Jack crossed a line they were never supposed to cross-after Robby's birthday night out, what started as tension and stolen glances turned into a single, unexpected moment that neither of them ever truly talked about again. No labels, no closure, just silence layered over something that never fully left either of them. Since then, they've learned how to exist around each other in the ER-careful, controlled, buried under professionalism. Jack stayed distant, convinced it was the safer choice. Sophia told herself it didn't mean more than it did. But both of them kept remembering it anyway. Now, with Sophia transferring to night shift, everything shifts. The walls between them start to crack in the long hours of shared trauma cases, quiet break room conversations, and moments where their hands brush too long or their eyes linger too openly. Night shift strips everything down-no distractions, no escape-just them, the chaos of the ER, and feelings they never dealt with properly. What was once buried starts resurfacing. Tension turns into closeness. Silence turns into almost-confessions. And every shift becomes harder to survive without acknowledging what that night really was-and what it still might become. Because in the end, it was never just one night. β‹†ο½‘Β°βœ©Β°ο½‘β‹† Jack Abbott x fem OC

Completing your residency at Chicago Northwestern Memorial, had always been your dream but after your brothers suicide, a transfer to Pittsburgh Trauma Medical Centre to complete your forth year of residency was your escape, a chance to feel safe again. You are tenacious, fast paced, efficient and unshakeable but you can only stop the cracks from showing for so long before something has to give. You keep your cards close to your chest but finding real friends and real support slowly gives you the space you need to allow yourself to feel human again. But Dr Jack Abbot complicates things, a man who has become an expert at hiding his own insecurities, but can see straight through yours. This will be a slow burn and long - i'm unsure about how many chapters as yet! Discussions of suicide, OCD, self harm, eating disorders and trauma/mental health. There will be sexual elements and in depth discussion of a power play relationship but i think i will avoid the super graphic sexual situations and only allude to them. I've never published anything I've written before so I hope you enjoy! I had already written a lot of this so parts will come up quickly as I edit and post here! Feel free to suggest any routes you'd like the characters to take and i will see what i can do!
