Mermaids and humans have never lived well together. Humans control the land and see mermaids as trophies that can be put in tanks or hung on a wall. Where as mermaids control all waters surrounding the land and see humans as pests that get in the way of life. But this has never been the case when dealing with the mer-prince and the human surfer. Pirates and mermaids are sworn enemies, everyone knows it despite knowing that, Xie Lian cant stop himself from liking a certain pirate... Pirates often hunted mermaids for their own selfish needs those "needs" were often because of one thing and one thing only, money. Due to the selfishness of the pirates, the mermaids went into hiding deep within the dark ocean but Xie lian had enough of it he wanted to see the world, he wanted to see what is was like to feel air in his hair, how it was to splash around in water at the top of the surface, he wanted to see the shining lights in something called the sky, that he heard about in the mermaid books at his palace, Xie Lian wanted to be free... So on Xie Lian's seventeenth Birthday he had decided he had enough and went up to the surface, atlast Xie Lian felt free or so he thought, he saw a sinking ship and went towards it to save the people, yes he knew he shouldn't've but he had always been stopped from saving people and now was his chance to do so!
