A little blue supersonic space hedgehog comes across a mechanically-adept sheriff, the two of them soon making a unique friendship, and they soon team up to defend the planet from the crazy evil genius Dr. Robotnik and his plans for world domination. Woody, an old school sheriff cowboy doll is Andy's favorite toy. When things seem to go right for him and his gang, Andy gets a new spaceman toy named Buzz Lightyear for his birthday. Between Buzz becoming Andy's favorite toy, as well as him being popular among the other toys, Woody becomes jealous. Eventually, his jealousy leads to him, Buzz, Wall-E and Scrat ending up in their destructive neighbor kid's house, Sid. They must find a way out before Andy moves to another house in the coming days. Along the way, they meet new toys who are desperate to escape Sid's house. Animal pals Alex, Mariah, Marty, Katie, Melman, Gloria and Brandon are still trying to make it back to New York's Central Park Zoo. They are forced to take a detour to Europe to find the penguins and chimps who broke the bank at a Monte Carlo casino. When French animal-control officer Capitaine Chantel DuBois picks up their scent, Alex and company are forced to hide out in a traveling circus.

Alex and all of the other zoo animals find a way to escape from Madagascar when the penguins reassemble a wrecked airplane. The precariously repaired craft stays airborne just long enough to make it to the African continent. There the New Yorkers encounter members of their own species for the first time. Africa proves to be a wild place, but Alex and company wonder if it is better than their Central Park home.

*This story features three new characters* Alex the lion is the king of the urban jungle, the main attraction at New York's Central Park Zoo. He and his best friends -- Marty the zebra, Melman the giraffe, Gloria the hippo, Mariah the lioness, Katie the bunny, and Brandon the hedgehog that they have spent their whole lives in blissful captivity before an admiring public and with regular meals provided for them.
