Spot and Race have never met. Race has seen the Mighty king of Brooklyn around and Spot always sees Race staring at him. Race cannot tell spot why. Like. Ever. But, that all changes during the strike.

Racetrack was kind of a newsie hybrid, he sold papes in Manhattan and in Brooklyn when he went to Sheepshead. While visiting his beloved racetrack he some how manages to form a unlikely bond with the Leader of Brooklyn, Spot Conlon. What happens when the "King" of New York and King of Brooklyn fall head over heels for one another? -- Why is my silly little story popular? Racetrack Higgins was a normal Manhattan Newsie- more or less. He was Gay, but so were all of his brothers. He was Jack's Second in Command and had a rough past. He was stubborn, has anxiety, and is a good bit chaotic. Spot Conlon was not a normal Newsie. He was the King of Brooklyn, the Borough feared by most. Except for Race. (And a few others.) Said Italian blonde boy was actually a half Brooklyn, half Manhattan Newsie, as he sold in Brooklyn. Sure, Spot scared him sometimes, but not a lot. They were very different. Spot had brown hair, Race had dirty blonde. Race had been to the Refuge, Spot hadn't. Spot had brown eyes, Race had bright blue eyes. Race was strong, but easily outnumbered, Spot was strong, but wasn't easily outnumbered. One think they both agreed was that they cared for their boys more than anything and would do anything to keep them safe. Oh, that and that the other was cute. Or hot, depending on if you were Spot or Race. ~~ Excerpt from the Story ~~ "Hey, Race." Ace starts, picking up his cards every time Race passes one to him. Race hums, passing a card to Sling, then himself, and then Ace. "Do you have a crush on Spot?" Ace asks, still staring at his cards. Sling hides his smile with his cards in front of his face, stifling a laugh. "No." Race answers, his face reddening slightly as he passes out another card to each boy. Ace looks up at him. "BS." He responds, smirking. Race scowls at him, pulling his hat off of his head and smacking Ace with it, all while his face turns bright red. Ace and Sling laugh. ~~ ~~ (I do not own Newsies.) A Drunken Spot sends a note confessing his love, to Race that causes some drama thanks to a certain Snipeshooter, fortunately this leads to a relationship which has its ups and downs and causes drama between fellow newsboys when Spot lets slip that it wasn't his idea to send the note...

Winter. A time of year the newsboys of New York City wish they skip over. It got cold- real cold. Newsies all over would start showing signs of sickness within the first weeks of winter. Not as many people are out on the streets, which means not as many people are there to buy papes. Money gets scarce and it's not like any of them can afford a winter coat. Wintertime is chaotic enough as it is, but when you're a newsboy trying to juggle a forbidden relationship, the death of many friends, and the return of a psychotic family member? Yeah, things can get a little... destructive. IT DOESN'T MAKE A DIFFERENCE TO ME WHETHER OR NOT YOU READ IT, I JUST WANTED TO PUT IT OUT THERE. DISCLAIMERS: - These characters are not mine, they all belong to Disney (excluding a couple little side characters here and there) - The word 'queer' is used frequently towards the end. While I am fully aware that it is not always used as a slur, I just couldn't bring myself to have one of the boys say the 'f' word. (You know the one) - This is going to be a mix of the 1992 Newsies and the Broadway Newsies, so I apologize in advance if you get a little confused. I just can't decide which is better, but for some characters I can only see them as the 1992 version or the broadway version. - Main difference: The relationship is going to be Jack and Katherine, meaning that neither Sarah nor Denton exist. Sorry about that, but since they aren't the main focus of this story anyways, hopefully you won't change your mind about reading this purely on that. - I made the cover using pictures off of the internet so credit to Google Images

Manhattan and Brooklyn are put into a frenzy when Race disappears without telling anyone. Spot joins Jack in the search for the boy who he holds a secret relationship with.

It had to be secret, no one could know, especially Spot Conlon -leader of the Brooklyn Newsies. However, one night arrives with Race, the next without. This takes Spot by surprise, and in moments a search party is assembled. Yet, the truth is harder to find than you may expect. Especially with a lot of Newsies curious about where Race was and the truth behind it all. Because, really, who is Racetrack Higgins?
