Percy refused to listen to a single word that came out of Ms. Belial's mouth until one day, she finally said something that piqued his interest. There would be a new student joining them, all the way from France. Percy not-so-secretly hoped they would be at least a fraction more interesting than his peers, which wasn't saying much. They were snoozefests. Ms. Belial clapped her hands together, gesturing to the blue-eyed girl who had just walked through the door. "Class, please give a warm welcome to our exchange student―"
"―Sommeil Dufresne." Percy, who usually sat slumped back in his chair, had his shoulders suddenly squared and was standing at attention, his voice uncharacteristically icy.
Ms. Belial's eyes widened, and her voice rose an octave. "Y...Yes, do you know Sommeil, Percy?"
"I wish I didn't."
(This would be a long fucking summer.)
