"Yes," he rasped coldly. "Then I will not take this burden of responsibility," she vocalized in certainty. With each passing minute in his intimidating presence, she felt distress and immense fright. "You do not have a choice," he hissed lowly with a hint of annoyance. "I have given my everything to the almighty. Please leave Mr. Knight, I will not be speaking to you anymore," She turned back, intending to conclude the conversation. She did not let her voice waver or telecast her fear like in their previous encounter. "Katherine," the way he pronounced her name halted her step. Suddenly, she felt fear surge through her skin. Her intestines twitched in extreme discomfort. She turned back, dreading something awful. And it happened. The pupils of her Caribbean blue eyes dilated as his fingers removed the shades. The piercing dark grey eyes came into view. Enigmatically deep and mysterious. She had to force her lips shut, swallowing the loud gasp that threatened to exit her mouth as she witnessed the forbidding eyes. The sudden reveal of his dark pools of ink made her tremble. "You have twenty-four hours. I will not come back again," he stopped and scrutinized his gaze on her face, which was failing to mask the stifled fright. "You will come to me," her breath hitched, hearing his deep voice filled with absolute confidence. "If not, I will show you a glimpse of how the underworld works." His words held a menace that ached her powerless heart, increasing the horror inside her. "Do not forget the power I hold. And always remember..." he paused, "You are betrothed to me and not to your almighty." She was already on her heels running away from him. She doesn't need to - she already knows what he needs before he does. And what he needs is something no one has ever offered him. To let go. A dark slow burn (at least emotionally, as physically things develop fast) about power, silence, and the dangerous thing that happens when a man who controls everything meets a woman who doesn't want to take it from him - just watch him hand it over himself. Not everything that happens in that room is about the body. Some of it is so much worse than that.

a Slow burn, dark romance/thriller centered around grief, power, and dangerous attraction. The story follows Olivia, an artist trying to rebuild her life after an abusive relationship, and Julian, a controlled but violent man. Their worlds collide and what starts as protection slowly turns into something far more consuming. The story includes heavy themes (violence, grief, toxic relationships, explicit content later on), so it may not be for everyone. Read the warnings before you read the book. This story is being told over 4 books and it gets darker. Every 5 chapters something dramatic will happen. 🖤🩶🤍
