The story follows the main character Elizabeth Bennet as she deals with issues of manners, upbringing, morality, education, and marriage in the society of the landed gentry of early 19th-century England. Elizabeth is the second of five daughters of a country gentleman living near the fictional town of Meryton in Hertfordshire, near London.

A slender, curly-haired guy watched me basically pour out the contents of my bag in search of some money and started walking towards me. "Need some help there?" I said to the barista who obnoxiously rolled his eyes at my pathetic-ness. "No no wait. I've got it, don't worry about it." The curly-haired guy held out money and the barista took it and gave him his change before I had time to protest. I watched the exchange, looking haggared with strands of hair over my face from my panic. "You didn't have to do that, thank you." I gave him a smile of appreciation and sat down to read my book. This has been the first time I smiled today. "No worries." He grinned, brightly. He's very cute. He has these striking green eyes, brown curly hair, he's tall and slim. I noticed his British accent, which is uncommon in a place like New York. His voice is low and he speaks slowly. It's almost calming.
