Later on in his teen years, Hunter would finally have the courage to fight back against Ed after finding out that his own father would sexually assault his baby sister, and would come this close to getting Ed in jail until Carol, at the last second, would press no charges on her husband, leaving Hunter infuriated with his own mother still being willing to stay by Ed's side. However, as the dead would rise and the people would die, Hunter had no choice but to go with his family to drive on the outskirts of Atlanta, and set up camp with a fellow group of survivors. During this time, he developed a friendship with the fellow survivors, including Dixon brothers, and while Merle was dead set against teaching Hunter about living outdoors, Daryl would take up the reigns and mentor Hunter in living off the land and hunting for food while being capable of being the camp's chef a few times. As the survivors try to live and work together, they would hear a voice on the radio, and what they find out would be so shocking, even the abuse Ed did on his own family doesn't match up the horror they are about to face.
