Giyuu Tomioka has lived with the chill of death ever since the night his sister died. The cold clings to him like a curse a lingering ghost he can't escape. On frigid days, he can barely move without feeling his blood freeze beneath his skin. To the other Hashira, it's just another sign of his strangeness the aloof Water Pillar avoiding everyone as usual. None of them know the truth: that his body has never been warm since that night, that winter feels like punishment, and that he's drowning quietly in a frost no one else can feel.
When the first snow of the season falls, Sanemi Shinazugawa and Obanai Iguro cross paths with Giyuu in the Corps' courtyard. As usual, they approach with mockery on their tongues until Sanemi stops mid-insult. The sight freezes him in place: Giyuu, collapsed in the snow, his skin pale as ice, lips blue, eyes unfocused.
Panic takes over before reason does. Together, they rush the half-frozen Water Pillar to the Butterfly Mansion, desperate to keep him from slipping away. But the rescue marks the beginning of something neither of them expected a fragile bond forming between three broken men.
