Nineteen years ago, a baby was stolen. The adults never speak of the target and the others are too young to remember. Hiccup Haddock is the laughing stock of Berk, Stoick's little embarrassment and the only Viking heir who has yet to kill a dragon and Astrid Hofferson is a disgraced young warrior who does everything in her power to restore the Hofferson name. Together, both Hiccup and Astrid try to do right to their family names and tribe, but their efforts are fruitless, the Hairy Hooligans want nothing more than to dispose of them. The two Viking outcasts are then branded as traitors because they were discovered befriending a Night Fury, and they are accused of false crimes that further seal their banishment. No longer fit to live among the Vikings of Norway, Hiccup and Astrid set out to start a brand new life into the great beyond. Little do they know that their adventures will soon land them in a foreign land filled with new dragons, dangers and a war torn empire.

Astrid is new to Berk ,and with that comes the seemingly impossible task of fitting in and making new friends. She is more of the keep to herself type, but her Uncle Finn really wishes she will finally step out of her comfort zone this school year. New school. New beginnings. Will she finally do it?
