klaus is an overly confident, reckless young boy of 12 years old who likes to smoke on the fire escape when everyone else is asleep and say hi to passerby strangers. marie is a judgmental, but unhealthily curious young girl of 12 years old who likes to escape her home in the middle of the night and can't help but talk back when strangers say hi. so, in other words, kindred spirits. despite marie's judgements and knowledge that talking to a strange boy is probably a bad idea, marie keeps returning to talk to klaus. klaus introduces her to the umbrella academy, and after all they've been through, who is she to throw her and klaus's two-day old friendship down the drain just because he's a weirdo with a probably radioactive, fucked up family?
