Mary Perdita didn't know a thing about herself. That's not just seem deep metaphorical phrase, she really didn't. Mary Perdita is just a name that she made up. She doesn't know how old she is, she has no idea where she came from. The only thing she remembers is waking up in a dirty alleyway in London with a locket around her neck. That and the fact that she has some of the strangest dreams about the most insane things: Time ships and a planet surrounded by a glass dome...the death of two unnamed adults. Because of these dreams, Mary has knowledge of aliens races and history that she shouldn't have. Knowledge that ends up being true, as she learns when she begins to investigate strange goings on with none other than Sarah Jane Smith, which eventually leads her to the one person that might be able to figure out where she came from, why she has no memories, and why her dreams hold true other-worldly facts. Mary needs a Doctor...and luckily for her, she may have found just the man for the job.

I just had an idea at like 4 in the morning after partying way to hard with friends. But, you know what? Cassandra Oracle is a scientist. She calculates probabilities, maps out the differentials and keeps her findings to the fourth decimal point at least, in order to ensure accuracy. But when she gets accidentally transported to a universe she thought fiction (thanks to the machine. she'd been working on), with a head-full of foreknowledge she shouldn't have about events to come. (thanks to her obsessions with a certain TV show), she realises that some things will never be explained neatly and precisely. And mostly, that mad men in tie-travelling blue boxes really can make your dreams come true.

Being alone is not so bad. It's when the loneliness kicks in that you realise how scared you are. You try to fill the void with all the friends you can find, but nothing seems to do the trick. And then, only then, do you become truly Alone. The Doctor was the last of his race. He filled the void with adventures and friends but it never truly worked. And then she came along. The wise girl with dwindling faith and an impossible quest, one of the few people who truly understood what it was like to be Alone.
