Kamari Riorson has always wanted to be a rider. Serving her kingdom, defending those who couldn't do it themselves was her biggest dream. That is, until her father was captured by the very people she looked up to and executed by the creatures she thought to be the most magnificent beings in the whole universe. She was pulled away from her family, placed with people who she knew wished for her death for what her father had supposedly done, and left alone with her grief. When she enters Basgiath War College, all she wants is to make it through alive. Little does she know faith has planned way more for her. {Fanfiction set in the Empyrean universe} {Liam Mairi x OC}

Fourth Wing - Onyx Storm AU Nineteen-year-old Freya Blackfyre has trained her whole life beneath the obsidian peaks of Vaelora, her sword forged in silence, sweat, and the long shadow of a prophecy that's haunted her since childhood: Her blood will be the end of all Venin. The true Dragon Queen, born of storm and stars. To most, the prophecy is a myth. To Freya, it's a prison-one that cost her her parents, her innocence, and the boy she dared to love: Xaden Riorson, the rogue warrior who vanished after a single night of forbidden passion. Now, with war on the horizon and monsters known as the Venin returning from legend, Freya must leave behind everything she's ever known to join Basgaith War College, a brutal academy where the realm's deadliest warriors are trained. The elite school isn't just about tactics and steel-it's riddled with politics, ancient rivalries, and magic as volatile as the dragons who ride the skies. Freya's arrival at Basgaith is anything but quiet. Her bloodline makes her a target, her friends make her a liability, and her own powers-wild, storm-born and dragon-forged-are beginning to awaken. Worse still, the one person she swore to forget is very much alive and waiting: Xaden, now a legendary rider and warbound commander with secrets carved deeper than any blade. As enemies close in and prophecy tightens its grip, Freya must choose: Bow to the destiny others wrote for her, or carve her own future in fire. Because the true danger isn't what she is. It's what she's willing to become.

A dragon without its rider is a tragedy. A rider without their dragon is dead. - Article One, Section One, The Dragon Rider's Codex "Anyone else feel like changing their mind?" Xaden shouts, scanning the remaining rows of cadets with the same shrewd gaze of the navy-blue dragon behind him. "No? Excellent. Roughly half of you will be dead by this time next summer." The formation is silent except for a few untimely sobs from my left. "A third of you again the year after that, and the same your last year. No one cares who your mommy or daddy is here. Even King Tauri's second son died during his Threshing. So tell me again: Do you feel invincible now that you've made it into the Rider's Quadrant? Untouchable? Elite?" No one cheers. Another blast of heat rushes - this time directly at my face - and every muscle in my body clenches, preparing for incineration. But it's not flames... just steam, and it blows back Rhiannon's braid as the dragons finish their simultaneous exhale. The breeches on the first-year ahead of me darken, the color spreading down his legs. They want us scared. Mission accomplished. "Because you're not untouchable or special to them." Xaden points toward the navy dragon and leans forward slightly, like he's letting us in on a secret as we lock eyes. "To them, you're just the prey." ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ "Who is that?" "Rhae Sorrengail, the forgotten daughter. She's Violet's twin, they're nothing alike though. Violet is the calm before a storm, and Rhae is the hurricane. The anger and stubbornness of that woman are insane." "God forbid she and Xaden stay in the same room for too long. Someone would likely end up dead." Started: June 5, 2025. Finished:

Alina Valoria once believed in the goodness of the world-believed in friendship, in faith, and in a future filled with warmth and safety. She believed in him too-the boy she was never meant to love, her brother's best friend, the one her heart chose long before she understood the cost. But war has a way of turning belief into ash. When war and tragedy tore her from her family and the boy she loved, Alina learned how merciless the world could be. How a heart can shatter quietly and still be forced to carry on. How someone raised to shine with hope can be remade by grief and survival. She vowed never to depend on anyone but herself again. Entering the Riders Quadrant to honor her family's legacy, Alina expected hardship, loss, and the brutal truth of war. What she didn't expect was to face everything she once mourned as if it had died-alive again, altered by war, and no longer the people she remembers. Time and battle carve new versions of us, and not all of them survive with their humanity intact. Least of all the boy she once loved. Within a kingdom trembling under ancient prophecies and the truth of fables, Alina finds herself caught between duty, faith, and a fate whispered about since before she was born. Here, loyalty can ruin, love can destroy, and belief is a dangerous thing to hold. As the gods turn their gaze back to the mortal world, Alina must decide which pieces of herself she is willing to sacrifice-and what she will fight to protect, even against destiny itself. This is a story of war, faith, and forbidden love-of a girl hardened by fate and a boy forged by loss, bound to a prophecy that could save their world... or end it.

Some loves are born in sunlight. Others grow in the shadow of war. Astrea Ysoria was supposed to heal, not kill. Her hands were meant for mending bones, not gripping daggers. But war orphans don't get the luxury of choice-and when you're the daughter of the general who signed death warrants for rebels, your gentleness becomes a liability the moment you step foot in the Riders Quadrant. What breaks her isn't the bridge designed to kill soft things like her. It's him. Xaden Riorson. Five years of silence. Five years of pretending they never existed to each other. Five years of learning to hate what they used to love. But some bonds refuse to break, even when they should. Even when loving him is treason. Even when every touch feels like betrayal and every heartbeat whispers enemy. This is what happens when war takes children and forges them into weapons. When the only person who ever saw you as whole is the one person you're supposed to destroy. This is a love story. It's also a war story. Sometimes, those are the same thing.
