Eallair had bumped through life, following Tor's lead, but with the date for his own visit to the proving grounds looming, he needs to be sure of his own heart. Unfortunately, with his gift playing havoc with his eyesight, and the glare of others auras ensuring a constant migraine, it's proving difficult to focus on what he wants from life. It seemed easier to down a bottle of absinthe and pass out in a stranger's bed, than to worry about whether or not he should even be taking the trials. But maybe the trials were the answer to his problems; hadn't the Taghadairean taken Deòthas's magic as her sacrifice? Maybe they would take his gift too. And if they found him unworthy? Well, then he wouldn't need to worry about anything ever again. Tancred couldn't remember the last time he felt happy. Being chief had always been an honour, but after millennia of life, he was beginning to feel tired, stretched thin; his weariness went into his very soul. If he'd been another chief, in another time, he might have fallen on his sword, but as so many people kept reminding him, the Comhairle couldn't afford a change of leadership. The nobles would use his fall to justify the disbandment of the Council, and with evil still gathering, no one could afford that. Even warrior chiefs need something to live for, though. The lull left in the wake of the Manipulator's death was only ever going to provide a temporary peace. Raghnall had gone to ground. Cailean's demonic sponsors were unlikely to abandon their quest for chaos simply because one minion had fallen. The question? Who was going to make the next move, and can the Comhairle come through the next battle unscathed?

**WATTYS 2024 SHORTLISTED** To overthrow the cruel King who brutally slaughtered her foremothers, the last surviving water witch Elara Consuli must team up with novice warrior Juda Vikaris from the Serpent Order and realise an ancient prophecy, before the blood-thirsty ruler discovers her existence and kills her too. Season 1 of The Last Water Witch *** The waters surrounding the Kingdom of Druvaria are deadly. Cursed by the Naiad, the sorceress race wiped out by King Ban-Keren, no one dare step foot into the poisoned waters in fear of certain death. Everyone, that is, apart from Elara Consuli, the last surviving water witch. In Grimefell, the cut-throat slums of the citadel, Elara blends in well with the rest of the accursed thieves and vagabonds lurking in the shadows, but her secret comes with a heavy price. Juda Vikaris, also has a secret of his own. As a skilled novice of the Serpent Order, the brutal assassins loyal to the King, no one escapes his watchful eye or the edge of his blade, and what better way to get revenge for his mother's death at Ban-Keren's hands, than by infiltrating the elite guard itself? But leading a double life is starting to take its toll on Juda as the training of the Order seeks to destroy who he once was and turn him into a cold-blooded, emotionless killer with each passing day. Juda has his own reasons for hating the Naiad and Elara knows all too well that the Serpent Order can never be trusted, but can their mutual hatred of Ban-Keren - and mutual attraction - stop them from betraying one another? In a world of dark secrets and a blood-thirsty King hell-bent on retaining power any way he can, Elara and Juda must decide whether to stand together and fight, or to trust in their natural instincts and remain enemies until the bitter, poisonous end.

"None of us really changes over time. We only become more fully what we are." - The Vampire Lestat, 1985 - Anne Rice What is the nature of change? As a vampire, I should know. I changed in ways most cannot even imagine. I started out as one thing; a creature of daylight, of aging, of hopes, and dreams that I would fill my fleeting existence with copious joy, so that when I found myself on the other side, I could say I lived well. Authentically, as myself. Then I became something else; a creature of darkness, of agelessness, of seduction and bloodlust, and an eternity where everything changed but me, in which I lost myself entirely. Is there an irony to that? That I went through the biggest transition possible, and in the aftermath, I lost my ability to change at all. Was that an ending or a beginning? In truth, it was neither. Perhaps for others it is. Perhaps that first bite - the bite of a sire into their progeny's throat, or the bite of the progeny at their sire's wrist - maybe that is both an ending and a beginning. The catalyst that erases every plan that came before and opens the door to a different world; a world of shadow, hunger, strength, and predatory drives. Maybe for most, that moment is pivotal; the cornerstone of a convert's fate. Whether they choose to become vampire or have their humanity stolen against their will, it doesn't matter. Those moments of feeding and being fed are still defining... for anyone but me. You see, my pivotal moment came nine months before my transition, on a cold December morning in fourteen eighty-four... The events of that day left me unable to walk, in a time before accessibility. My father tried to give me back my life, using forces he didn't understand. He condemned me to this eternity, unable to do any of the things I loved. Those first few centuries were unbearable, but even in the modern world isn't easy to navigate the night as a disabled immortal, especially when vampires with magic start turning up dead.

"The Japanese have this saying; Koi No Yokan," he mumbles, his thumb gently touching my bottom lip, "It is a phrase which describes the sudden knowledge upon meeting someone that the two of you are destined to fall in love." Whoever Fiáin was born to be died along with her twin brother. She died when a strange white wolf came into their territory and murdered her brother in front of her. All her life, Fiáin had lived with the guilt of having hidden rather than trying to defend her twin, and it didn't matter to her that she had only been a cub herself, or that the effort would've been futile. In her eyes, her brother's loss was her fault. But just as painful as that guilt was the fear that accompanied it; a fear so relentless that she'd never taken her place in her pack, and had settled into a position only one rung above omega. But her family think she's failing to step up, and her father believes that if he just pushes her hard enough, her inner wolf will push back. Cróga, on the other hand, had always known his place. He'd grieved for his younger brother too, but as his father's heir and the subject of an elven oracle's dire prophecy, he couldn't let fear hold him back. Whatever dreams or desires he might have had didn't matter, because one day he would be an alpha male, and a commander of both the Tírgarda and a naval fleet, duty-bound to guard the coast of Tírlaochra from invading forces. His own guilt weighed heavily on him too, because the oracle had forewarned that he could only take his place once his father lost his life, and Cróga wasn't ready to face that loss, or to face his own self-doubt. When the white wolf reappears, Fiáin isn't prepared for her father's decision to send her away, to be the mate of a wolf she barely knows. She's even less prepared for a journey in the company of Styrkr, a male from across the sea who wants to travel Tírlaochra before taking more responsibility in his own pack. None of that matters for long, though, because when the black ships appear from the fog that blankets the sea, war returns to a land that's known peace for centuries, and both Fiáin and Cróga will need to find their places, for the good of everyone.

'Don't look, Lillian. Never look into the eyes of a Sin-Eater, you will be as cursed as he is and will forever languish in darkness.' Lillian Elmes remembers the warning her mother gave her about the town's Sin-Eater only too well. How could she not when she'd ignored it as a child, only to find herself plagued with nightmares when she'd seen with her own eyes what the dark work of the Sin-Eaters entailed? Now an adult, Lilian's curiosity still burns deep, especially when she crosses paths again with the town's freshly-appointed Sin-Eater, the mysterious and strangely alluring, Daniel Carver. Desperate to find out whether the rumours about the dark priests are true, Lillian makes the journey into the forest to spy on Daniel in his woodland cottage, only to realise that she really should have heeded her mother's warning all those years before. For Lillian Elmes, looking into the eyes of the Sin-Eater is going to bring her far more than she had ever imagined it would - murder and mayhem, ghosts that just won't lay to rest and an attraction that might just be more lethal than the undead who've started rising from their graves.

'The best way to make alliances, is with marriage.' Daenerys Targaryen sits on the Iron Throne. Days after arriving in Westeros, the Lannister forces were destroyed; in a reign of fire and blood not seen since Aegon's conquest. As the ash settles she turns her gaze north, where a bastard calls himself king and the people eye her with fear and suspicion. Intent on unifying the realms of north and south, she rides her army to Winterfell, armed with a proposition that could ensure peace for generations to come. Jon Snow - battle weary and reluctant - has been crowned King of The North. Heralded a hero after the battle of The Bastards, he has no designs on the Iron Throne for himself. Haunted by what he's seen beyond the wall, Jon welcomes Daenerys Targaryen, fully intent on bending the knee, knowing he will need her support in the Great War still to come. Jon is stunned by Daenerys's proposition - offered to him atop the snow covered walls of the castle he grew up a bastard with a bastard's name. As Jon finally confronts his destiny, he will be forced to question everything he has ever known about himself. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ *DISCLAIMER* This is GoT Fanfiction. This is an alternate take on the ending of GoT which in terms of timeline would be set after the events of SEASON 6 of the TV show. The books are perfect and I shall not be messing with them. *ANOTHER DISCLAIMER* I do not own these characters. George RR Martin does and are featured in his series of novels: A Song of Ice and Fire. This is mainly Jonerys fanfic. Some of your other favourite characters may appear, but they will be secondary because Jonerys is endgame, Jonerys is the only show in town, Jonerys is life, Jonerys4Life... Ad infinitum. This is essentially a complete rewrite of the last two seasons of the show which feels completely necessary at the moment for to me to nurse this broken heart. Updates whenever - I shouldn't even be writing this!

I was born the day Boudicca fell. My whole life I lived in fear of the day when Rome's armies would march northwards, into our unconquered lands. It felt inevitable. If the legions came, people would die. Farms and forts would be burned to the ground. Free people would become slaves overnight, and to stop such cruelty, the chiefs of the northern tribes would be asked to kneel, to swear fealty to an Emporer the people didn't recognise. Or we could fight. War was coming. I'd known that from the first moment I could know anything, but time was finally running out. And why now? Why, when Roman progress in Britannia had been thwarted so many times, did their reach now extend beyond the land of the Brigantes? It started with Andraste, goddess of war and victory. She turned her back of those she was sworn to protect, all for the love of a warrior far beneath her station. She condemned Boudicca, and all the fallen kings, queens, and chieftains that followed in the footsteps of the Iceni queen. I could hate the gods for their betrayal, but as a slave was about to show me, the sway of love was not something to be underestimated. So the question became this; could love survive the wrath of the gods?
