In the dungeon of the Elf King, Thorin Oakenshield gets to know the Captain of the Guard, Tauriel, and both their lives are changed forever. Based on information from the book and the upcoming "The Hobbit" movies. Rated G. This is my first fanfic. I wrote it in January/February 2012 because it was going to be a long time until December 2012, and besides, I thought it would be great if Richard Armitage's character had a romance (although I know it's not going to happen). Hope you enjoy!

This is a first, very rough, draft of a modern-day Jane Eyre with the working title "Moorland Hall", which I began during NaNoWriMo 2010. Got stuck after 17k words and haven't written any more since then. There is a part of it which in part is polished a lot more in comparison (the meeting in not-Hay Lane), because that part was written as part of a course in creative writing, and it went through about five re-writes, whereas the rest ... well, the rest I haven't even read since I wrote it! I stopped writing because I just got stuck with the house party. As I was writing, I was bored and then it dawned on me that one of the reasons for being bored was because a house party is so NOT modern. You can't have people (even fashionable, rich people) go off to someone else's for a couple of weeks and then have them stop by for a couple of weeks. It felt completely off, and at the time, I was stuck trying to think of something to use instead that WOULD work in a modern setting, and ended up just shelving the whole thing instead. Anyway. Feedback is much appreciated, even though it's just a rough first draft so there is a lot to be desired. Plot is one, checking chronology with the original another. I was also thrown off a bit because I messed up one day, jumping ahead of the plot.

Based on the BBC adaptation of Robin Hood, starring Richard Armitage as Guy of Gisborne. The story 'spins off' from Ep 2 of Season 3 after Gisborne has returned from the Holy Land having killed Marion. Kate's brother has been taken by Gisborne to fight for the sheriff, and she is helping Robin Hood to infiltrate the castle in order to rescue him. 9/2/2012 - I'm currently working on a revised and extended version of this which I'm hoping to put out on Kindle next month. In medieval France, Marie de la Croix is high in society, but has not managed to produce an heir to her brutal husband. When the local carpenter is brought in to make some new furniture, Marie realises that there is another life available to her than that of just being the Sheriff's wife. *** This is a short story and it will not be continued in present form, as it was basically just a first draft of a (surprisingly long) chapter of a NaNovel about something completely different. (I won't put that 2007 NaNovel on here because it's 52k long and turned out to be a collection of scenes without anything resembling a plot.) The chapter was meant to be a sort of flashback to a previous life lived by the four main characters, but those references have been removed to make it stand-alone. If I continue with the story of the sheriff's wife, I'd start from scratch and fill it out a lot more, as this is really just a synopsis. :)
