Sunburst spends his days chasing after the Ghost King, cursing the Ghost King for making him skip school to go defend the city, and bickering with the Ghost King. Will Solace is sure that he's going to be the one to finally get the bounty for the Ghost King. The Ghost King is a supervillain. So why won't he hurt anyone? The Ghost King is the city's only supervillain--so who is this new villain, and how can Nico and Will survive them? Nico felt like Icarus. Fly too close to the sun, and your wings will melt. Fly too close to the sea, your wings will grow heavy. Nico had already flown too close to the sea. He had allowed his infatuation with Percy to rule his life, his decisions, for far to many years. His wings had grown heavy, and he'd drowned. Icarus had made a mistake. He strayed too far, entranced by the kindness of the light. The dark wouldn't be as welcoming, ushering you in with no hesitancy and crossed arms. That didn't work out so well for Icarus. So, Nico would allow this filter, this light, to cover him, shroud him in kindness, and possibility, and warmth. But he would not cross further. Nico hasn't had an easy life. His father abandoned him, his mother died, and then his sister met the same fate. However, things have recently gotten worse: his boyfriend has turned abusive. Nico lives in constant fear. Then Nico meets Will. Will helps Nico, and shows him that his life doesn't have to be a living hell. It takes a while, but slowly, Nico starts to believe him. Even if his books-turned-into-movies were an agonizing reminder, even if social media was in love with him and his author charm. Because he had moved to France, while Nico stayed in New York. That was, until, Nico was forced into an arranged PR relationship with Jason Grace, a straight actor who was under-fire for homophobic tweets, and Will moved to New York-with a boyfriend. Now living in the same city, they begin to grow mixed feelings for each other, both keeping it bottled up until they all unleash. And with the public watching, things aren't going to be pretty.

Will remembers his name, everything else outside of that? Well, he draws a blank. So, the last thing he wants to do is run headfirst into a dangerous maze. Of course, keeping his head down and hiding in the infirmary with his newfound abilities only works for so long, after all the Fates have other plans for him. Nico has been in the maze since it began-the hideous '1' burned into his arm announces it so-he knows how to survive its dangers alone. And he knows how to avoid Percy Jackson. Except the Labyrinth's latest newcomer has no intentions of letting him disappear so easily after their chance meeting, despite how adamantly Nico tries to push him away. Percy remembers the name of every camper they've lost to the Labyrinth. The weight of such knowledge has him slowly drowning in grief and loss and guilt as the years inside the clearing pass. Annabeth, despite their complicated relationship, keeps him afloat as they navigate holding the lives of many in their hands. After a wild party on the last day of Junior year, Will Solace may have...accidentally...got way caught up in the alcohol.
