There was a before the Calamity, the little things that were seen, felt, and said that Legends don't tell. There was a during the Calamity, where truths are told as death wishes and secrets are taken to the grave. There is an after the Calamity, where wrongs are righted and a fresh start is made. But tragedy seems to follow the Princess and the Hero where they go throughout the ages, and this age is no exception. ⚔ The first installment of the Between Them series. In which Link and Zelda meet, and try to get through the Great Calamity together.

A year has passed since the fall of the Calamity Ganon. Things are reliving in the kingdom. Zelda thought that things would have returned to normal between her and Link, but Hyrule's hero seems to carry a burden in these peaceful times. The princess wonders if she is the one causing him to be so distant and silent once again...

Before the rise of Calamity Ganon, Princess Zelda of Hyrule was appointed to travel across the lands. She was to learn about the technologies of the ancient civilizations before her kingdom rose and speak to the leaders of each nation. And along the way, she must bring her trusty friend and guard, Link. But as they travel, with nobody else around to talk to, they grow to find an affection for each other that's deeper than a friendship. But how, in a world governed by politics and potential war, could they find a way to stay together?

Zelda and Link have defeated Calamity Ganon and are now free to go their own way. However, it is hard to get to grips with their past, which can get in the way of their present. And as if that isn't hard enough, there seems to be a new threat that they will need to face. **This story takes place directly after Breath of the Wild and has no link to Tears of the Kingdom. Don't forget to check out the sequel: Noble by Nature!

Before the Great Calamity, Zelda and Link travel amongst Hyrule together. They must learn to tolerate each other on their journey. Zelda, having barely been able to leave the castle much before him, discovered her sense of adventure when she went out with Link. Is it possible that the two of them harbored a secret admiration for each other than ran deeper than friendship? Or would Link maintain his silence and not speak to the princess at all? This story flashes back from before and after the Great Calamity. What happens after Link defeats Calamity Ganon? This story is very long, but if I do say so myself, I think it's worth it! There will be a sequel. Contains spoilers. I DO NOT OWN THESE CHARACTERS OR ANYTHING/MONOLOGUE THAT HAPPENED IN THE GAME, it belongs to Nintendo. Starting as a fiery hate towards Link turns into an undeniable passionate love story of forbidden love and desire of closeness in secret. Peeling back Link's hardend exterior revealing his heart, Zelda yearns to be free with him in the open. A zelink fanfic occuring before the events of breath of the wild. Not everything is canon. Time has passed. Hyrule is getting rebuilt. Zelda on the other hand is not quite sure what to do. She is no longer a princess, She's a queen with responsibilities. A dark force is looming. Old friends are getting rediscovered but that boy. That man. Link. There's an unfinished story with him. This is my take on the universe. There will be new characters that aren't canon. There will be a few POV swaps but let's see if I can make this a cohesive story.

What if, when Zelda and Link were plummeting into the depths together, Link had just managed to grab Zelda's hand? This is that story. Now, both Zelda and Link are stuck in the past, in a world very different from their own, trying to find their way home. Tensions are rising at court as Ganondorf takes power, and Zelda can't deny that she has feelings for her best friend and only tether to the world she once knew. Will they both make it out alive?
