One day, they found Annabeth Chase, a little girl, hiding in an alley. They were worried about taking her in and exposing her to all that danger. However, after they saw her fight, the three took her in, and they became a surrogate family. While at one of their safe houses, Grover Underwood, tasked with escorting them to Camp Half-Blood, found them and told them that they would be safer at camp. While Luke and Thalia were initially against this but Viktoria convinced them it was for the best after a group of Cyclopes kidnapped Annabeth.
