XuFeng ❤ JinMi... grape and her phoenix. I'm a sucker for romance. Watched Ashes of Love, read the book, the epilogue, simply cannot get over it... sigh. I wanted more of their lives after they found peace. And so I wrote this one shot... This is my epilogue, set after XuFeng finds JinMi in the forest, where the arrogant birdy snatched the bride. Crafty duo, these two :p Six thousand years worth of spiritual prowess as dowry lol... Love these two. So, I stick to the TV version Jin Mi. Blockhead Jin Mi in the books is adorable, but I kind of dig her transformation in the show. The maturity and wisdom in her eyes towards the end... Ah. It just makes her more beautiful, more alluring. It doesnt take away from Jin Mi who was simple, carefree and cheerful, but adds more depth to it. Yup, I fell for her too, just as I did the steadfast, arrogant Phoenix. So here we go, a little scene, one morning in the mortal realm, the day of Frost's descent. HBD, Jin Mi... Ashes of Love one shot, based entirely on the TV series. Theme: Found family...and I mean XuFeng, JinMi, their son BaiLu, along with LiuYing and her daughter QinTian. Family members are precious. They protect you, annoy you to death, stay with you in thick and thin. Unfortunate cases, they stab you in the back. Often you are stuck with the ones in the family you are born in to, and those bonds last forever. But the ones you choose to be your family... Sometimes these ties are stronger than blood ties, and even more beautiful. I love the bonds of friendship, love and loyalty the Demon Princess LiuYing had with XuFeng and JinMi. She was always their friend, steadfast and loyal and brave. I especially love how she constantly fought with her long-lost lover Muci in the mortal realm to protect JinMi, and how she was always there for XuFeng whether he was in Heaven or Hell. From the epilogue in the show, it is evident that LiuYing and her daughter visit XuFeng and JinMi often, BaiLu and QinTian get along like a house on fire, and XuFeng is definitely an indulgent uncle to QinTian, the way she asks BaiLu to get him to come rescue her if she runs into trouble. So, a little scene, set after the show's end, of course. BaiLu aka Xiao Lu aka TangYue gets a visit from Auntie LiuYing and his sister QinTian... Jinmi decides it would be a good idea to test out a new pill. Xufeng abjectly disagrees. Inspired by one of the epilogues of the Ashes of Love novel - a snippet from Xufeng's perspective. The inspiration for their characterisation is based on the TV show as opposed to the novel, however, as I do find the characters in the novel version somewhat cold. I loved the c-drama, "Ashes of Love", but I felt like the ending (though a happy one) didn't give me enough satisfaction as a viewer. I loved the plot so much but hated the barely-there or seemingly lacklustre kisses, (I know this is for universal audiences - I get it) but I wanted to write a mature, yet brief version of their happy ever after. *Don't judge me - but if you know what I mean (wink, wink) - check out this story. It's also me trying out my writing skills with fan-fiction, so I will write more if people receive it well and don't think my writing is sub-par or utterly crap. Obviously, key caveat is, I am not a professional writer. Anyway - enjoy and give me lots of comments! :-)
