They were complete opposites - where Bruce was a friendly well behaved kid and loved by most, Vance on the other hand was short tempered and loathed by almost everyone in town. Where Bruce loved the outdoors, Vance preferred to stay inside. Where Bruce was always joking around, Vance took everything seriously. It wasn't that they disliked each other - in fact, they never actually had a one on one talk with each other - but there was an undeniable tension between them that neither could quite put their finger on.
