His girlfriend, the mother of his 6-year-old daughter Bandit, recently left him to go back to her first boyfriend, back in Scotland. Gerard's world crashes down, and it just keeps getting worse when he accidentally runs into his old high school bully. This might be triggering for certain individuals

Though he wasn't completely naïve - he knew that the presence of Gerard's apparently suicidal ex-boyfriend was going to make things difficult, but he didn't know that his intense distrust of the man would start to break down the relationship he'd tried so hard to keep.
