Growing up in a family constantly under the public eye, Dr. Ling Kwong learned early on how to become invisible. Blamed for a childhood tragedy and overshadowed by her famous family, she lives quietly in the background of her own life, pouring everything into her work as a neurosurgeon where no one expects anything from her. But when an emergency brings Orm-a hard-working kinder teacher-into the hospital, their two very different worlds collide. Amidst the sterile halls and exhausting quiet hours, Orm begins to notice the silent details everyone else misses: the tired eyes behind the surgical mask, the unspoken grief, and the gentle heart hidden underneath. For a doctor used to being forgotten, Orm's gentle gaze might just be the first place Ling feels like she truly belongs.

Prologue Money makes people honest. That was something Ling had learned a long time ago. Honest about what they wanted. Honest about what they were willing to destroy to get it. The woman sitting across from her slid a folder across the table. "Our daughter," she said coldly. Ling opened it. Photographs filled the pages. A girl laughing in a café. Arguing outside a nightclub. Walking down the street with another woman, their hands intertwined. Ling glanced at the name printed beneath the photo. Orm Kornnaphat. "And what exactly do you want from me?" Ling asked. The man answered calmly. "Break her relationship." Ling closed the folder slowly. "And how am I supposed to do that?" "We've arranged a position for you in our company," the woman said. "Executive assistant." Ling looked up. "You'll be working directly under her," the man continued. A small silence passed. Then the woman finished the sentence. "Get close to her." "Make her fall for you." Ling studied the photo again. The girl in it was smiling, completely unaware of the plan forming around her. Ling stood and took the folder. "When do you want it done?" "As soon as possible." Later that night, standing beneath a streetlight, Ling opened the folder again. Orm's smiling face stared back at her. Ling closed it. "Just another job." DISCLAIMER This story is purely fictional. It has no connection to real-life events, individuals, or entities, whether living or deceased. Any similarities are purely coincidental and unintentional. Ling Ling Kwong & Orm Kornnaphat, of course, are lovely girls and not as the characters mentioned in this fanfiction. Remember, this is a fanfiction! The neon lights of the bar blurred into streaks of gold and red as Orm stumbled toward the exit. Her heart felt like it had been shredded; seeing Ryu, her boyfriend, in bed with his secretary had shattered her. He had claimed he only sought someone else because Orm wasn't "giving him what he needed," but that excuse didn't dull the sting of betrayal.

Ling finally tried committing to something other than her career, the gym routine and a rotating roster of flings. She proposed. Her girlfriend laughed. Apparently, Ling's "I'm not a relationship person" reputation is harder to shake than she thought. Especially when her *actual* longest relationship is with her best friend, Orm, and the tiny child who bosses her around and claims "she's ours."
