In a world where jugglers entertain on the street, a boy loses his parents in a factory fire. Taken from the Lower East Side to New England, Harry is abandoned at The Elizabeth Home for Destitute Children. In Theda Bara’s Tent follows the spirited boy’s quest for love and prosperity. He finds comfort at the movies and is befriended by the young theater owner, Louie, who will one day become a Hollywood legend. The orphanage closing is the beginning of Harry’s adventures in a wider world. He encounters screen stars, Tin Pan Alley song pluggers, bootleggers, dare-devil cameramen, movie moguls, and a young gossip columnist who steals his heart. Rich in historical context, with a cast of characters real and imagined from the movies’ early days, this page-turner follows Harry Sirkus as he makes a mark in the flourishing film industry and goes on to become a famous news broadcaster. Harry’s personality is so captivating and vivid readers will be hard-pressed to remember that the author made him up.

When Shiloh Tucker was born, his life expectancy was that of any other child, until he was diagnosed with a congenial heart defect as an infant. But after seventeen years of being told he would die, Shiloh Tucker is very much alive, with one little catch: after his heart failed him in infancy, his brain lost too much oxygen in the occipital lobe. So in short, he's certainly kicking, but he has been legally blind since his fourth week of life. Compromise. That’s what life’s about, isn’t it? Shiloh doesn't see it that way- he doesn't like it one bit. But his lack of sight certainly never held him back from a good fistfight, and three expulsions and a broken nose later, Shiloh Tucker is being sent to live with his estranged father's relatives in Nantucket, Massachusetts, where he just might find that there's more to sight than simply seeing.

Sara is the temperamental, quick-to-judge daughter of an upstanding Protestant family in the countryside of Cologne. To her, the war has always seemed a far-away nuisance. That is, until a warm night in the summer of 1944, when a jarring dose of reality is dumped upon their doorstep: young, fraught, and Jewish. Enter Benjamin Jastrow, the child of an old family friend and the new and indefinite resident of the Fleischers' attic. He is violently shy, coping with various stages of post-traumatic stress, and can hardly form a sentence without stammering—a nearly perfect opposite of the blustering Sara, who positively abhors his presence in her home. But for better or worse, they are the most important people in each others lives, and everything they thought they understood of their world will soon change forever.

Rose thought she was an un-awkward, high school teenager. Keyword: Thought. She had her own personal problems: homework, hormones, family complications, the brat—the list goes on. But her life takes a complete one-eighty when she participates in a round of truth or dare with her close, differentiating friends. Being dared to sneak into the chemistry lab and taking a photo as proof couldn't possibly change a person's life completely, right? Well, when she wakes up the next morning and atypical incidents start occurring such as objects floating, bursting, crashing, having visions of crimes and she seems to not have the ability to hurt herself, something's up. Rose soon discovers she has superhuman abilities and has to learn about her strengths, weaknesses, talents, and of course, how to keep it a secret. She redefines herself by creating a new identity she soon calls, Thalia. But remember: Every superhero has an arch enemy. . . or ten. Cover by me.
