An odd encounter with King Bumi would cause him to take (kidnap) you to Omashu to care for you as much as an insane man can. You grow to become a skilled earthbender within the city of Omashu. As time passes, you are told you received a work order mainly due to your exceedingly high skills as an earthbender and further as a fighter. You would be called upon by Earth Kingdom nobles Lao and Poppy Beifong on their visit to the city of Omashu to work as a same-aged servant and bodyguard for their daughter, Toph Beifong. King Bumi, your de facto adoptive father, would easily agree to the offer and you would quickly travel to the Beifong residence to provide for and to protect their daughter.
