It didn't matter if she had to live in a cramped trailer with her mom and little brother, as long as they were far away from it all. But life was harsh to her, it never let her catch a break. On top of that, the world was too small to truly escape. A piece of that past was here. He was here. And in this quiet town, Lucas Sinclair thought he had left the past completely behind. He had a perfect life that contrasted sharply with the one he had in posh California. It didn't matter if his house was smaller than their old dream house, as long as it was warm and safe. But life had a way of surprising him in ways he never expected. The world was too small for him to avoid his past forever. A piece of that past was here. She was here. They didn't talk. They didn't reconnect. They avoided each other as if the past had never happened. As they were strangers. She had tried, really. To cover the guilt. And he had tried, honestly. To forget the pain. This is during season 5, in filling in the blanks Of what didn't happen. Who we didn't get a reunion with (Dustin, El, Etc) and just things I imagine happening between scenes. Also gonna write the stuff that DID happen in the show too, just saying what I think their internal monologue would be saying. (Specifically Max's.) First two chapters made before the finale. Max faces challenges with recovering from her coma and grieving the loss of her best friend, but doesn't face them alone. Lucas along with the rest of the party help her through tough times. Lumax focused (obviously :P) Takes place between the final battle and the epilogue. Thought I'd make a Lumax story since the Stranger Things fandom is slowly dying.

Max wants to find her dad after her mother leaves due to the happenings in Hawkins, and she wants Lucas to come with her. So they travel to Cali by car, crash at motels, and search for Sam Mayfield. Max is afraid of what she might find, remembering all the bad things he was involved with. What will she encounter? Will she be able to rekindle her relationship with him after so long apart?
