Faced with this new change, August longs for friendship, especially when she meets her next-door neighbor Jacob. He stared at me for a minute more before asking, "I feel like I recognize you from somewhere, have we met before?" As her 17th birthday draws nearer, August begins to recall a past summer spent at the beach with Jacob when she was little.
