Wrenley Strowe is the town's most reliable apothecary, a self-taught doctor who can prescribe the most valuable remedies to cure any sickness. A job like this done by the hands of a woman is more suspicious than honorable. Rumors continue to haunt her life claiming she is a witch pretending to be a devout Christian; only "pretending" to attend Church services. However, the only thing preventing her from being hanged is her brother, the respected officer of the town. Not to mention, with Wren's talents, she is the best healer in all of East Rye. No one dares to taint her title. The townsmen purposely keep their distance from her unless one is injured or has fallen ill. So living a life of solitude is nothing new to Wrenley Strowe. That is until a handsome but mysterious newcomer comes by. He immediately sits next to Wrenley one day during Sunday church service, starting up an unexpected conversation. Seemingly able to predict the outcome of things, and to know everything about her, Wren starts to question if this mysterious stranger is even human. Things only begin to get stranger when the town's happy-go-lucky pastor suddenly hangs himself in front of the church, and a new overly joyous pastor steps in with an obvious lust for power. Children, too, begin to go missing, and an increase in rumors about Wren being a witch starts to threaten her safety. HIGHLIGHTS: AGE-GAP, GOTHIC ROMANCE/MYSTERY, HUMAN TRAFFICKING, HINTS OF FANTASY/SUPERNATURAL ASPECTS, AND VIOLENCE.

Rewrite Note: [At present I am rewriting the book with a planned release of the redone chapters starting in July! Originally thought I'd just clean up the chapters but decided instead to change up the story lines and make things better connect to book 2] So major plot changes will occur to what was read in draft 1 originally posted last year! A new opportunity to live his "best" life. At least, that's how Vincent was sold on the idea. Thing is, the condo's sort of haunted... by the ghost of a brutal killer known as the Hammer Man. For most, this would be a deal breaker. Well, not for Vincent. He's four years into his "career" and lives for hunts like this. It's a simple enough job: Go in, find the ghost, make it pay for the crimes it committed decades ago and deliver damnation in the way he knows best, punishment based around the target's sins. Will this job just be an easy, open, close case or will this hunt start him down the path of unraveling crimes of decades past, all while meddling in the affairs of the creatures around his new home?
