Young girls whose hearts had reached their throats listened - in terror - to the drums of the battalion which was dreaming of conquest and captivity and crazy vultures hovered waiting for the moment to pounce. The moments of sunset accumulated inflamed... The Euphrates blazed behind the fiery peaks of palms. The night was about to fall as the darkness slithered on the sand. Sadness wandered through the tents spreading its heavy shadow and groans rose from everywhere. As green dreams yearn for rain, fertility and life...
