Smultron appeared on his screen late one night as he desperately sought an escape, refuge. It was the polar opposite of his norm-nature, calm, privacy, quiet, anonymity-an old worn-down house with a forgotten garden. Even from the few images, he could sense the serenity it promised.
A quick Google search of "Smultron place" revealed the Swedish definition: a highly personal place, an escape from the world, a place you wish to keep to yourself. Despite his efforts to find it, the place seemed non-existent, a metaphor, a fairytale.
And so, he ran. Far and fast, never looking back. Fate granted him a sanctuary to forget his past, lock it away from the world and himself. He locked it away in a dark room, both metaphorically and literally, and only then could he breathe.
Or so he thought..
A warm breeze would sweep in from the West unexpectedly and show him he'd been holding his breath all along..
Or: the one where Louis finds a mysterious place called Smultron, a seemingly non-existent sanctuary that leads him to flee his past and realize he's been holding his breath all along..
