Liam Connell stared at his captor. He looked like a pirate from a holovid, black trousers and a white full sleeved shirt, with a purple sash around his waist. Black hair brushed his shoulders and ... Connell couldn't believe it, he actually had gold hoops in his ears. "Mmm! Mmmm! What do we have here?" the pirate smiled. Just what had Connell got himself into? Since childhood, Dusan heard stories about airies - the magical creatures who could bend the rules of nature to their will. Despite looking like humans, they were enemies, abominations to be hunted and destroyed. Dusan knew those weren't just fairy tales, for he had met an airie before, and had barely survived the encounter. It had left him with more questions than answers, so when his assailant crossed his path years later, he just had to figure it out - was that airie really that bad? Was the attraction and curiosity that he evoked in Dusan just a result of some magic spell, or something else entirely? Could an airie and a human possibly get along? And, in the world of humans, could a magical creature survive without his powers? -------------------------------------------------- Dear Reader, I hope you'll enjoy this story! When Alistair Melek gave his life to the sea, a various degree of things changed. For starters, his love for bloodshed was exemplified. Bolder. He was drawn to the clash of a sword, blood spiling below to floorboards, like a moth drawn to a flame. And this love was damned to spread through his crew as some treacherous disease, claiming any and all who joined. But he knew this was the price he'd pay. The price for the sea itself. So when his crew completes another standard loot and pillage from a merchant ship, he allows his men a bit of fun. He liked to give them an audience, rounding up those who didn't fall victim to the blade during battle, and forcing them to beg for their lives. To prove how much they really wanted to live. Alistair had ruled the sea for some years now. Killed thousands, maybe tens of thousands. Destroyed hundreds, maybe thousands of vessels. And yet, each feeble human was all the same. There was not one man he threatened that didn't beg for their lives with all they had in them when faced with the wrong end of the sword. Each feeble human was always the same. Or so he thought. And yet, he also thought that this would be one standard job. A treat for his men after a night of good work. But this particular survivor, the one with long white hair and dead looking eyes... He wasn't a merchant. He couldn't have been. More important, there was no hesitancy when Alistair asked the fairly built man whether he wanted to live, and the man replied with a simple no.

When werewolf Boris was assigned the ungrateful task of guarding a vampire to keep him away from his community, he never expected to fall for the man instead. *** Vampires can't be trusted. Unlike other supernaturals, they depend entirely on blood-preferably that of humans. To allow them to live in Pinewood among humans is inconceivable. Yet, one charismatic vampire named Etienne wants to push for exactly that. In an effort to keep the people of Pinewood safe, Boris, the werewolf guardian of the town, strikes a bargain. He will live with the vampire first. If Etienne can be around him for one month without biting him, he will be allowed to live with the humans. If he fails and takes a nibble of Boris, the deal is off. Boris never expected the bloodthirsty vampire to last longer than a day. But Etienne is not what he expected at all. While he may not be dangerous to the people of Pinewood, however, he definitely is dangerous to Boris in all kinds of other ways.
