When a gem's form is injured, they retreat into their gems to repair themselves. But what happens when their gem gets damaged? Without their gem to heal them, the person they once were disappears in a puff of smoke. Their form, gone. Their gem left useless where they once stood. The only thing that's left is a cracked gem and their weapon. In most cases, the gem is taken or destroyed, but the weapon is left for the taking. Sometimes taken for spoils of war, sometimes taken as a reminder of a lost friend.

Steven and Connie have spent a lot of time together, three years to be exact. In this time Steven can summon his shield, make the bubble last longer and withstand more pressure, fuse with all of the gems, and even fuse with humans(if they agree). But, one thing he can not do is take Rose's sword out of the scabbard until one day, a monster appears while Steven and Connie are having a sleepover. The only problem is that the monster's weak spot...requires Steven to use the sword.

The gems are in the final battle against Yellow Diamond and her army. after a while, the battle ends, but Steven is nowhere to be found. after a while of searching, they find something very tragic, that will change everyone's lives.
