By a chance encounter, Lucien meets his true love, his fated. In his world, vampires and humans reside together mostly without conflict. There is a mutual understanding. Vampires need blood and humans supply it willingly in trade. Throw into the mix, Jocelyn, a sweet-smelling girl with a personality and attitude that blazes just as red as her hair. Jocelyn is visiting from a land unsettled, as of yet, by vampires where humans are still the hunters. She has only ever known disdain for Lucien's kind. Can Lucien change Jocelyn's mind before time runs out? Excerpt..... I stood up, leaned across the table, on my palms, smiled cooly, and said, "I'm not allowed to call you dinner." Her eyes widened, and she dropped her glass. The glass clanked against her dinner plate and crumbled. She immediately looked down at it and frantically started picking up the pieces. "Leave it for a servant," I sniped at her. Reginald, our head waiter, promptly appeared at her side and started picking up shards. Our servants were specially trained on how to clean up messes without having bloody accidents. She looked up at me with a renewed sense of hostility. "I will do it myself!" Reginald didn't move. He is trained to insist. "Please, Miss?" he asked quietly. He took hold of the piece of glass in her hand and pulled. She squeaked in pain and held her hand up in front of her face. It was in plain view so that everyone could see. Her finger had been sliced open. The sweet smell got so strong that it was almost irresistible. Prompt number: 11. Vampires are bound by an ancient destiny: their soulmate is always human, and this bond is governed by three rules. The smell of their soulmate's blood is irresistible, its taste is sweeter than anything else, and if the love is unrequited, it can be fatal. Fearing this inevitable bond, most vampires try to avoid it. But what happens when one of them discovers that their soulmate is a human who not only rejects them but loathes them?

It all started with the tea shop and a newspaper clipping. Aletha Robin lives in the small town of Lilitia with her girlfriend Freedom Williams, who goes by Fey. They go to eighth grade together and are open about their relationship, despite facing discrimination for it. One day, Fey shows Aletha a scrap from a newspaper dated twenty years ago about a new tea shop. A tea shop that has no records since then. When Aletha goes to check it out, it's there alright, but then strange things starts happening. A unicorn horn while hiking. An odd cat. And somehow, Aletha and the tea shop are all tied to it all. When she learns that someone is trying to take it away, it's up to Aletha to make things right again, with or without the magic of the tea shop. Be warned (though it shouldn't be necessary, but I understand religious beliefs or just preferences), this story is LGBTQ+ with the main character being bi, and having a pan girlfriend. If you're not comfortable with that, do not read it. Do not go into the comments and leave hate about it either. ONC 2025 ENTRY

Sylfir is a lone druid; a young bounty hunter hailing from the High Forest who has made a life for herself answering calls for aid from the helpless. When the village of Summerfall issues its plea, she thinks it is no different than any other bounty she has taken, but when she arrives, she gets far more than she bargained for. In the wake of its near-destruction at the hands of an unknown beast, the village has become a confluence of powerful players: a cleric of the gentle but resolute Eilistraee who is unwavering in her conviction, a trio of Uthgardt warriors with unmatched mettle, and a mysterious red-eyed witch who would invite doom on them all. Sylfir finds that she must rally these souls to her side for good to triumph over evil. But amid the sea of chaos, she chances to find islands of calm as she comes to feel for the village people. Of all of them, however, it is the son of a farmer that she's drawn to. She proves all too susceptible to his easy charm, but with all that is at stake, will she let herself fall for him? The Reaper attack on the Citadel has been thwarted, and in reward, Shepard is sent to root out the vestiges of the geth that were loyal to Saren. Like a good and loyal Spectre, she accepts the assignment... albeit begrudgingly. She expects it to be a quiet endeavour; something that the Council hopes will keep her warning of the incoming Reaper invasion away from their ears, but she gets far more than she ever bargained for, and a course change she could never have expected. This is a retelling of the beginning of Mass Effect 2, filling in the gaps between Shepard's death and her subsequent resurrection at the hands of Cerberus. Disclaimer: I do not own Mass Effect. Thanks to the @ScienceFictionAmbassadors for adding my #speculativefiction #sci-fi #TheOneWhoEatsDreams to their #dystopocalypse reading list. The One Who Eats Dreams is a speculative fiction novelette, and a blend of fantasy, science fiction, and magical realism set in a dystopian South Africa, where the boundaries between dreams and reality blur. The story unfolds in a world marked by the rise of the Bubbles, shimmering domes that symbolise privilege, contrasting sharply with the struggles of those outside their confines. Central to the narrative is the legend of the Dream Eater, known as uMdli wephupho, (the one who eats dreams), a malevolent spirit that consumes dreams and has awakened due to the introduction of Dream Dust, a substance that offers an escape but leads to addiction and despair. The prologue introduces the rich mythology surrounding the Dream Eater, describing how it once served as a guardian of dreams but became corrupted by darkness. As technology advances, the whispers of ancestral wisdom fade, leaving dreamers vulnerable to this insatiable hunger. Review: The blending of African mythology with modern technology in "The One Who Eats Dreams" effectively captivates the imagination through its rich cultural context, emotional depth, and innovative storytelling. By exploring themes of identity, tradition versus modernity, and the consequences of escapism, the narrative invites readers on a thought-provoking journey that resonates on multiple levels. This unusual fusion not only enhances engagement but also encourages reflection on broader societal issues, making it an intriguing read for those interested in complex narratives that challenge conventional boundaries. The upcoming novelette explores themes of addiction, loss, and the struggle between tradition and modernity as characters grapple with their realities and strive to reclaim their dreams from an encroaching darkness. Willa and Melusi become: Mel-a. (Dedicated to you).
