Loyalty. Perfectly content on the frostbitten land - Russia quickly learnt to adapt rather than freeze. The ice was his sanctuary, his foundation, his lifeline. Fast, fierce, focused - ice hockey has kept him grounded and rooted deeply with the values of the state. Until it had been mandated by the UN that all states in education needed to network, globalise, connect in the same environment. It started out okay. Russia and his siblings kept to themselves, fulfilled the bare minimum and went about their days. Soon enough thing went wrong. Russia had caught someone's attention, someone fixated on his every move and interaction. Threatening messages, locked doors, a shadow hovering over him constantly. Leading Russia finds himself relying more and more unlikely nations, namely the United States of America. On his first chaotic day at the precinct, he's assigned to a detective who isn't even present, runs errands that make him feel like a glorified coffee boy, and ends up trailing behind a group of overeager rookies after hours. What starts as a harmless hangout spirals into something darker when they sneak into an underground hybrid trafficking market. Disguised under cheering crowds and flashing lights is a disturbing reality: hybrids being sold like collectibles. Russia isn't interested in any of it until a vendor shoves a small, terrified avian hybrid into his arms. Suddenly, the night becomes more than just a bad memory. It's the moment everything changes. Author's Note (Why They Aren't Drawn as Countries): I know these characters are based on countries, but you'll notice I don't draw them with traditional flag-themed skin tones or markings. That's a personal choice-mainly because I've found flag patterns hard to incorporate cleanly into my style. They either clash with my coloring approach or feel too forced on the design. I am trying to improve at it, but for now, I focus more on giving each character a distinctive personality and vibe, rather than sticking strictly to flag visuals. Once there was peace. Where creatures and mortals and monsters lived alongside each other, loved one another. But then there was a murder and war engulfed the lands.
