After being hit with a new strange ray from Eggman during an attack something weird starts happening to Sonic. Now his friends will have to dig through a past full of more secrets than they could've ever imagined in order to get him back. Secrets that even Sonic didn't know about.

Sonic had always viewed his super form as something positive; something that gave people hope. A nice trump card in an otherwise losing situation or a nice safety net to keep for the right moment. The emeralds might be hard to track down sometimes but in the end it had always been worth it. So why did he feel a sense of dread when looking at them now? Something was wrong.

After an incident where Sonic loses control and goes Dark, Knuckles convinces Tails that it's time for Sonic to have inhibitors, like the ones Shadow has. Now stuck with the restrictive rings, Sonic must learn to live with their strange feeling. But he has to wonder... are they really working as intended? Shadow was just arriving home, when he opened the door he saw Classic Sonic sitting on his couch looking confused. Shadow thought about going to bring him to the freedom fighters but Classic Sonic wouldn't let him, now he is stuck 'babysitting' until someone either finds them, or until another portal opens.
