Tomioka doesn't talk to the hashira at all he will talk to the master and that is it. Most of the hashira respect Tomioka's silent wishes to not talk to him and stay away from him. Though Shinobu wishes he interacts more with the others and she picks on him to try to get some sort of emotion. There is also Sanemi who wants Tomioka to show some emotion and act like a "normal" person so he threateneds him.

This takes place right after Masachika's death. Sanemi had just been given the title of Wind Hashira but he was sick and grieving.
