En el speakeasy lackadaisy se dará un show con Mitzi como cantante pero justo un día antes ella contrae un resfriado, decidida a no cancelarlo ya que asistirán posibles patrocinadores a los cuales no le conviene defraudar. Sin opción ni tiempo para hacer audiciones busca entre sus empleados alguien que pueda reemplazarla en el papel de cantante. Su esperanza está puesta en la joven Ivy pero al preguntarle ella confiesa que aunque es una increíble bailarina (en palabras de ella misma) no es lo mismo como cantante, como un milagro inesperado llegan Freckle y Rocky, este último tarareando una melodía famosa, Mitzi duda por un momento pero decide arriesgarse con la persona más peculiar e improbable de su personal.
