Imagine: The Battle of New York never happened. In fact, nothing after Loki's capture and imprisonment on the helicarrier actually happens. Loki never breaks out, Banner never hulks out, Barton attacks the ship but is unsuccessful, and (let's be honest, most importantly) Phil Coulson doesn't die. The Avenger's plan goes right.
